Autumn 2020
There are places on sandy ground where the traces of others can be seen; people, kangaroos, wombats, echidnas, dogs: where plants, the wind and water have left marks. When I have found such a place since the start of the COVID-19 epidemic, I have made a small-scale exploration by drawing my response into the sand, “walking” between these marks with lines. The examination of and response to marks left by other creatures or the elements is a way of seeing past the delicate receptiveness of sand to the life behind these impressions.
This drawing was done in the course of more than one visit to this site.
