Solstice Project 12 - autumnal equinox 3 - sunset

Sunset on the fifth day after the southern autumnal equinox from my chosen viewpoint.
Three marker stones can be seen in this photo. Closest to the camera, not actually a stone, but a piece of glass, which in the morning caught the sunrise and I was pleased to find was in line with the central marker stone (quartz) and a crack in the granite boulder from which I was viewing the sun. The third stone is a small piece of granite; the observant viewer may have noticed that I moved this one to the central position and the quartz to the west for practical reasons... the granite wouldn't balance in position. I am very happy that he third marker stone is moderately central on the crack as it extends toward the west.
The sun's progress across the sky appears to pass almost directly over this point. Another thing to ponder on, as the sun on the summer solstice passed nowhere near exactly over the observation point, only a couple of dozen metres away.
A moment later. The sun went down very fast. The mysterious diagonal shape is a piece of dead wood.
Daylight view of the markers with the addition of the coloured golf ball so I can get a good view of it from the next place. Also of interest: look how much greener the trees are since cooler weather and rain. This is wonderful.
