Solstice Project - 9 - summer 9 - east point

Looking back toward my starting point from the point where the sun appeared on the solstice. One of my collaborators on the right of this photo.
An expedition to the east point; the place where the sun rose on the 2019 summer solstice, seen from my chosen viewpoint.
The yellow plastic egg was found at the site and makes a good marker. As the actual point of origin is not really discernible from this point, I estimated that a prominent dark tree on the intermediate ridge is in line. This is not real navigating. It's an expedition.
The line walked from the summit of the ridge to the boundary of the publicly accessible area. I like to imagine that this depicts my amazing ability to walk in a straight line, but I think that the GPS averages from point to point.
Another  useful marker found on site, showing the view to the wider world (eastern part). Careful inspection of the photo will show another marker on the fence post in the middle of the middle distance.
Arriving at this point, which I have been observing for nearly two months, and seeing the view to further east was an exciting experience. Of course I have been here before; it is less than two kilometres from my house. But the journey toward the sun has made it into an adventure with many (small) challenges and pleasures. It is interesting how much the exercise feels like an epic adventure, even though it is in reality contained within a very small area.
